Why Adding Plants to Your Codiaum Terrarium is a Good Idea

A Codiaum terrarium is a good choice for your first fish tank. If you are a beginner at keeping fish, then the terrarium is an excellent place to start. Even if you have had other fish tanks in the past, starting with a small fish tank will ensure that you are not overwhelmed. The smaller fish tank will also make cleaning of the terrarium a lot easier, and with less algae to clean up.

A Codiaum fish tank can house up to eight fish. It is important that you use proper fish tank equipment when creating this tank, or else you will have a very hard time keeping the fish healthy. Only choose fish that are easy to care for, and fish that like a similar habitat as you. Some examples of fish that make a good pair in a terrarium are places and zebra danio. When building your fish tank, look for pieces of cuttlebone to help support the bottom of the tank.

An important part of building a terrarium tank is the water filter. Your chosen fish may not need a water filter, but fish that live in similar water conditions will greatly benefit from one. Codiaum fish are a perfect fish to begin with; your tank will be just a simple matter of adding the terrarium plants while waiting for them to get established. It will take at least a week, though it may be longer, for them to be completely established in the water.

As the time goes on, you will want to start putting real live plants into the water. At first, simply place cuttlebones into the water to cover the bottom of your terrarium. Fish will grow over time, and they will dig down deeper into the substrate of the terrarium to get to the food. Once they have reached the food, they will stop digging and return to their hiding spot at the top of the terrarium.

Cuttlebones will grow into beautiful shells that will allow you to fill your terrarium with beautiful shells for display. They are also a good place to get started on a new aquarium filtration system. You can use gravels, stones, or coconut husks to get the water to flow over the rocks and stones and keep the water moving.

As time goes on, you can add more plant life into your new fish tank. This is especially easy if you plan on starting a reef tank later. The best way to grow plants successfully in a terrarium is to have them provide good hiding places for your fish. Live plants will do this, as will be submerged leaves and roots. If you have planted an artificial pond or a sunken beach, now is a great time to add some plants.

Codiaeum terrariums can be full of happiness, but you cannot expect fish to do the same. Some fish will try to destroy the other fish you are putting in the tank. If you want to get your fish to behave in a way that is in line with their natural habitat, you should consider planting more underwater plants around the base of your fish. These can create the perfect habitat where your fish want to live.

Some plants can even help your fish build their habitats on land. Water lilies can create a lush underwater environment where many different species of fish can live. This is another reason why it is a good idea to add plants to your codicil or terrarium. The more plants you have, the better chance that your fish will get to eat them. And, if they don’t eat the plants you put in the water, they will simply nibble at the floating leaves. These things will happen if there are plenty of plants in your fish tank.
